The Gem Goddess is a professional Tarot reader, Intuitive, Astrologer and Manifestation Coach with 15+ years of experience. Early in her life, I had an interest for spirituality and magic that eventually became a passion she decided to pursue. She has taken many courses on Tarot, Astrology, Mediumship, Reiki, and Law of Attraction. After years of taking classes upon the subjects she was passionate about, she went on to make a YouTube channel where she creates videos using tools like Tarot and Astrology to make intuitive predictions for her audience.
Leanna, a.k.a the Gem Goddess got started on YouTube after being a lifelong self-proclaimed “closet spiritualist.” It was a personal passion she and her mother shared, and after studying audio engineering, she only dove deeper into the magic of vibrations. She always wanted to work for herself, and she had a YouTube channel where she was creating makeup and lifestyle content, but it wasn’t fulfilling to her. What she really wanted to talk about was tarot, astrology, and the Law of Attraction, but the fear of what people would say held her back.
Pivoting on YouTube
She decided to make the leap anyway, and didn’t expect much from it, nor did she think many people were interested in it. That wasn’t the case at all! After creating some “pick a card” videos that took off, she then started creating manifestation videos that also did well. The rest is history! Her channel being successful after pivoting to something that she was so deeply passionate about gave her confirmation that that was the path she was supposed to be on, and she felt it deeply in her soul.
A lot of people think that they have to do makeup or lifestyle, but there’s a whole other world out there! Gem had her makeup channel for about 4 years and was at about 4,000 subscribers, but it really wasn’t fulfilling her. Since pivoting in 2018, she has 800,000. It took about 6 months of doing spiritual content before her channel took off, but at that point she had been doing YouTube awhile, so she had a lot of experience with video editing and YouTube in general.
It takes awhile to build up the skill when you first start out, but if you’re dedicated and if you really want to do something, learn from your failures, learn from the process, learn from the progress that you’re making. Anyone can make their dreams happen!

Things that get in the way of mindset
So how can we start shifting our mindset for success on YouTube? For starters, believing in yourself and letting your personality shine. Leanna used to be so nervous and camera shy that she almost felt like she had to put on a certain persona. But she realized she just needed to be herself, and people started to notice!
A note to all you perfectionists out there: things don’t have to be perfect! Perfection is not relatable. Don’t be too hard on yourself if a video isn’t doing well or if your channel isn’t taking off. Never look at anything as a waste. Everything is a learning experience. Even negative experiences can teach us something. Keep pushing through and don’t give up just because you’re not noticing success. It doesn’t mean that it’s not meant for you or that you are incapable. Anyone is capable of doing anything they set their mind to!
Progress is all about reflecting, making adjustments, and learning. Even at 800k subscribers, Leanna is still doing that. Don’t stay stagnant, and by stagnant, Leanna means getting used to whatever you’re doing and hoping something will change eventually. You can’t expect change by doing the same thing over and over again. Growth starts with reflection and adaptation.
What to do if you’re feeling stuck
Sometimes watching something even completely unrelated can spark inspiration. When we’re in the same environment, we think the same thoughts and take the same actions, so sometimes just stepping outside the norm can lead to new inspiration. As someone deep into spiritualism, Leanna also believes that guided meditations can help give clarity and help see more into ourselves. She’s big on meditating every morning and using dream journals to tune into your subconscious mind and learn lucid dreaming.
Final Thoughts
Leanna’s #1 piece of advice for creators is to have a strong why. Once you have a strong why that drives your soul to the ends of the earth, then you’re unstoppable and you’ll find success. Always reflect: how can I learn? How can I grow? How can I make it better? With that mindset, you’ll eventually learn from what you’re doing, and you’ll find your path. Always be taking steps forward. Understand you have the power to change whatever you’re struggling with or dealing with mentally. You can deal with it and learn with it. Anytime we blame the external world, we give away our power and our ability to change.
