How Fitness Influencer Rebecca Louise Created a YouTube empire: The YouTube Power Hour Podcast 217
“My vision was always: how do I get to where I want to be? How do I create this community and help as many people as I want to help? I’m not just going to stop because something out of my control decided not to work. That was never the vision. There was never a Plan B.”

Originally from the U.K., Rebecca Louise came to the USA at 23 years old on whim to get her commercial pilots license, which she completed out of Long Beach, CA airport. Although Rebecca loved flying, it was not her ultimate passion. When she got her work visa to come to the states, she was casted to be on a fitness Youtube channel. This is where Rebecca’s love for fitness, helping people and hosting came alive. Since then, she has gained a following online of over 4 million with her YouTube views surpassing 400 million. From the demand of her audience Rebecca went on to create her Fitness and Nutrition App BURN. Her Podcast, It Takes Grit, was launched in January 2019, and she has been featured in Entrepreneur, Vogue, Allure, Cosmopolitan, Shape, Oxygen, and many more.
When Rebecca moved to the United States, she auditioned for a job as a host for a YouTube workout channel. She got the job and they paid her $40 an episode, and that channel got 600K subscribers over an 18-month timespan. After those 18 months, they decided not to film anymore, and Rebecca was scared to start her own channel because she was afraid to compete with something she already helped build. It took her over a year to build up that confidence, but she finally was able to create her own channel and her own community. Her growth was nothing short of amazing. When she first started her channel, she was filming with an average camera, without proper lighting, without a tripod, and editing them in iMovie. Now, she regularly negotiates with hotels and resorts to film in amazing, exotic places, has a fitness empire that includes two channels, a network marketing company, a subscription-based product, a podcast, and so much more.
“Every single day that you don’t start is a day away from where you want to be.”
How does she do it? She has built a team, from professional videographers to assistants to customer service managers, because you can only go so far by yourself. You have to know when to delegate. She manages that team and stays organized with google calendar so that everyone can be on the same page. She also tries not to get too hung up on perfectionism. Mistakes happen, things happen, you have to live and learn and move on. And finally, she does it because she cast a vision for herself and didn’t stop. There was never a “plan B”. Once Rebecca made the decision to go all in, there was no turning back, and she did whatever she could to be what she wanted to be. She is always working on herself, always investing in herself, and always thinking of ways that she can be better.
“If you’re too much of a perfectionist about anything and everything, you’re never going to get anything done.”
3 Key Interview Takeaways
- Think big. Don’t do something just to dip your toes in the water and see what happens. Make the decision that you’re all in, and cast a vision for where you want to go and who you want to be. Be consistent. Keep working on yourself and personal development, always work on how to be the best version of you. Find out what your audience wants to help you find direction on where you want to go.
- How to Negotiate. Rebecca has been able to negotiate to film in some amazing locations. Be up front right at the beginning with what you can offer, and what you want from the brand. They’ll know what they’re getting, they know what they have to give you, and then they’ll know whether they want to work with you or not. Be transparent and honest about what you’re willing to do. Follow through. Create a contract so they can trust you.
- How to repurpose your content for more income. If you’re already creating content and you’re already an expert in your area, it’s an easy way to generate income. Use a subscription model and put that content into a program you can sell. Add in exclusive content only available to those with a subscription. How can you utilize your knowledge and give it to your audience?

MY FAVORITE BUSINESS TOOLS
Course Creation: Looking to create a course? Kajabi is the BEST platform hands down. I use this for my course after extensive research on all the other platforms.
Live Calls and Interviews: I use Ecamm for my podcast interviews, both audio and for YouTube that you see here on YouTube. It makes it super easy to share my screen and create the split-screen with my guest. I’m not super techie and this software is really easy to use!
Webinars and Live calls: I use Zoom.us for my group coaching calls in my private membership group for female YouTube creators. It’s also the software I use to record my Road to 100k YouTube Subscribers Masterclass!
THE BEST YOUTUBE/PODCASTING EQUIPMENT
After interviewing HUNDREDS of successful YouTube creators, these are the pieces of equipment that hands down get mentioned time and time again. You can’t go wrong with anything on this list!
- 4k Camera: Great for starting out and vlogging
- Lens: This lens is recommended highly by many of my podcast guests, it gives the blurry “YouTuber” background look.
- Audio: If you want to upgrade your set-up, audio should be one of the first investments (after a good camera). This microphone is unanimously the favorite amongst my podcast guests.
- Podcast/Voiceover Microphone: If you are looking for a great microphone for a podcast or video voiceover, this is it! This is the one that you see in all of my videos and the one I’ve recorded my podcast on for years.
- Webcam: For my interviews, that you see in my videos, this is the webcam that I use. Super inexpensive and easy to set up!
- Inexpensive Lighting Kit: Need to pick up some lights but don’t want to spend a ton? This is a great set that will get you started and help improve the look of your videos.
- Ring light: Looking for that beauty look? Invest in a ring light! This is an inexpensive light that does that trick!
