Get ready for a YouTube Power Hour first! This week’s episode features my very first ASMR YouTuber! Lune Innate (a.k.a. Jillian) is an Esoteric Healing Arts Teacher, Master Level Practitioner, and Spiritual Content Creator with presently over 100K subscribers to her YouTube channel: The Lune INNATE. Born in NJ, and living 10 years in New York City, Lune is now based in South Florida where she teaches Healing Arts and guides clients on their spiritual path, both locally and internationally, as well as hosting events and retreats in various locations of the United States and beyond. In this episode, Lune talks about being an ASMR and spiritual YouTuber and how she uses Patreon to build her community!
First of all… what is ASMR? ASMR stands for “autonomous sensory meridian response”… basically a feeling of well-being combined with a tingling sensation, and it has taken the YouTube world by storm. Lune Innate found the ASMR community while she was pregnant and needed some relaxing. She was totally hooked, and started her channel after giving birth and becoming a new stay-at-home mom as a way to give back to the community she had grown to love. At first, she was just kind of going through the motions, and it didn’t feel like much to her. So she decided to combine it with her work as a holistic healer, reiki master, and teacher of esoteric arts. When she first began her YouTube journey, she felt shy, sheepish, and afraid she was going to be judged. It wasn’t until a few years into her YouTube career that she truly stepped into herself and gained complete confidence.

What I love about Lune Innate is that she has multiple streams of income, most notably her Patreon. While she uses her YouTube for her more digestible content for a wider range of audience, she uses her Patreon for more audience-specific content. On top of her YouTube channel and her Patreon community, she takes private Reiki/coaching clients, many of whom have found her from her YouTube channel. She even customizes some of her YouTube sessions and recordings for people to buy (genius!). Lune Innate treats Patreon more like a community. There are multiple tiers of sponsorship, so it’s accessible for many people. She caps her top tier at $10/month, but it’s always possible for people to donate more, which happens for her quite frequently. As a member of her Patreon community, users have access to additional videos, streams, and to interact with her more personally than on YouTube (though her Patreon users are also still very active on her YouTube channel as well!). Lune Innate has been able to forge strong connections with her Patreon subscribers and believes strongly that if people love your work, they will support you and be there for you.

3 Key Interview Takeaways
- It is possible for people to see you too much. Lune Innate posted as often as she could to engage with her subscribers… but not too much so as to completely turn people off from watching her content. It’s important for people to see you and connect with you, but posting too often is a turn-off for many. Find a healthy balance and a schedule. For Lune Innate, that means (usually) two videos a week: a serious video that she puts a lot of effort into, and one that’s more casual.
- Don’t put all your eggs in one basket. Lune Innate generates income to support her family in many ways: monetization of her channel, sponsored videos, Patreon, private clients, and customized video sessions. If you rely solely on one source of cash flow, where would you be if suddenly that couldn’t happen anymore? Put your PayPal, Venmo, Patreon, etc. in all your content. Create multiple ways for people to reach you.
- Don’t Overcommit. Make sure whatever content you commit to creating, whether it’s YouTube, Patreon, whatever, is sustainable, especially as your community grows. You don’t have to post constantly, but having the time to interact with your community is important.

- 4k Camera: Great for starting out and vlogging

- Webcam: For my interviews, that you see in my videos, this is the webcam that I use. Super inexpensive and easy to set up!
- Inexpensive Lighting Kit: Need to pick up some lights but don’t want to spend a ton? This is a great set that will get you started and help improve the look of your videos.
