Lilian Show Notes!

Three holy grail items:

  1. Anastasia Beverly Hills Dip Brow Pomade
  2. Anastasia Tamanna Eyeshadow Palette: I am obsessed. Its amazing. I love the cards that come with it.
  3. MAC Lipstick in Brick: The Kylie Jennar Obsession.

What is the best tip you can give our listeners and viewers who might have a channel that they can take home and do today?

One tip I would give is to enjoy the journey and just have fun with your channel. Dont take it too personally, especially when you first begin. That is too much anxiety on your shoulders. Have fun with it and be yourself.

Who is your beauty vlogger inspiration:

I love Zoella. She is amazing, I feel like she is so natural. She is just herself which I love.

Do you have a habit that is unique to you that has led to your success?

When I first started my channel, I didn’t know I spoke fast. Apparently on my videos I spoke really really fast. I feel like that is why they watch my videos or my accent. I think that is what intrigued them. I didnt know it was something special. But, go with it. If there is something different about you, then flaunt it. Ill go with it the fast talking Australian girl.

Is YouTube still new in Australia?

I would 100% say its a newer thing. America is way faster than us, UK as well. Here in Australia it’s still new, Australia is just starting to recognize us as individuals with power. It’s so new, not everyone understands it. Hopefully people catch on in the next three years

Do you work with a manager?

Yes. It’s so much better and easier. When I was on my own it was time consuming and stressful, you don’t know how to word things, etc. I am just glad to have them. I have one in Australia and one in the US. The US one gets me gigs in US companies.

What are two essential internet resources you use to run your channel?

My favorite is Hootsuite. It’s the perfect website to schedule blog posts or tweets or instagram posts. You don’t have to worry about it that day. You set it and it goes on itself. The second one would be blogger.com. That has helped me so much. It is helpful and resourceful. There is a chat line you can use if you are in need of help. Both of those are free resources. For Hootsuite I use it for Twitter and my Facebook.

What is your favorite social media platform and how do you use it?

It changes all the time, I am into Instagram. I am obsessed with stalking people, stalking photos. It coincides with my channel. It is something more personal to look at. It’s a photo 24/7 that is available to them. It’s an inside look into what you do daily. I think I post too much. I try to stick to 1-2 photos daily, I’m obsessed with it. As soon as I was on Instagram, not as many people are on facebook anymore. They don’t utilize it like they did. Instagram, is the new thing with the hashtags and everything like that. (Facebook) I want to see what is happening in real time, not what I am told to see. The sad thing is that Instagram is coming in with ads as well in between photos, I’m not sure how that is going to roll out. I haven’t actually seen the ads at all, it must be newly released.

I just think everyone should stay positive and don’t take anything to heart on social media and online. Stay positive. One of my top videos a few months ago was “How to become beautiful” about how to be nice to people and keeping secrets, things like that. Another one was “How to Be Popular” which was once again trying to be a good human, smiling to people, things like that. Those videos have more views and more response than any of the other videos of mine. Which is interesting, I think people crave things like that, to stay positive and just stay nice. The feedback has been really positive. People around the world voicing their opinion on how much that helped them, I get a few comments daily saying, i want to see a video like that everyday, like every morning before they go to school to watch that video. It’s so amazing for someone to feel good about themselves because of what someone else is saying. I think it’s very important to keep in mind, it’s the small things that add up. Just be nice to people, keep smiling, compliment someone, don’t share secrets. Just small things that you can keep in mind to keep going and stay on your track.
