Ayydubs Show Notes
Beauty Bonus Round:
What are your three Holy Grail beauty items?
1.) Laura Mercier – Silk Cream Foundation
2.) Urban Decay Eyeliner – any eyeliner from them is amazing
3.) Too Faced – Chocolate Bronzer
What are your three Holy Grail items for your channel?
1.) Final Cut Pro I use to edit. My videos have improved since I stopped using iMovie and started using Final Cut.
2.) My friends. People love watching me interact with other people.
3.) Camera: Canon Rebel, it’s a great camera
What do you wish you did not do when you first started?
I wish I paid more attention to improving the quality of my videos. I went on for three years with terrible physical quality. I think I would have gotten more people to watch my videos if they were more aesthetically better looking.
What is your unfair advantage?
Being in college a lot of YouTubers are foregoing that opportunity. It allows me to collect views who are not interested in YouTube but looking for college things on the internet.
What is your favorite opportunity from YouTube?
I love when I get to travel. I did a commercial with Garnier this past year. That definitely was my favorite opportunity. I went to New York; they sent me with my friends. They shot the commercial, I love acting. It was crazy that there was a whole 70-person crew at this place just to film my commercial. We stayed at a hotel it was really nice, my three best friends and me. The theme of the commercial was tailgating. They hired fake friends, which was funny, but I was able to bring my friends too. I get my business opportunities from a lot of different ways. I am signed with the collective, which is a network. I have a manager at the collective. I have another manager who has her own company, Melrose and Park. I work with both of them. Because I am interested in working for myself ultimately, I like to handle things on my own as well. If a company contacts me directly I will go ahead and answer without going through my managers. A part of that is signing up with different websites. There art a lot of websites that connect influencers with companies. There is a website called Style Coalition that I signed up on. These companies are popping up everywhere.
How do you best manage your time?
I am an obsessive person. I compulsively make lists. I have them all right next to me. Lists all the time. The best way I manage my time, I plan out every day ahead of time. If I write down that list, I promise you by the end of the time it will be complete. It is hard to manage both school and YouTube. You have to designate certain days to completely work on one thing or completely work on another. If the weekend comes up and I have a lot to do, I won’t go out. I will spend all of Saturday working on YouTube and all Sunday doing my homework. I am very dedicated to the things I think are important. I don’t waste time. I think I am very driven. In the end it pays off because its what I love. When I upload the video and read the comments, it will be better than going to a party. I love what i do.
