Who is Yarissa Rodriguez? She is a brand new up and comer from the Dominican Republic with a Spanish channel that has skyrocked this last year. We were introduced in a Facebook group for YouTubers. She had been casually mentioning a few milestones in the group when I asked her, woah, wait, did you just say you have 50k subs and you just started 6 months ago? Then 2 months later, BAM, she hit that elusive 100k goal every YouTuber dreams about. Ok, miss unicorn, I gotta know your story and you are coming onto the podcast! I think everyone wants to know how to get 100k YouTube subscribers in 8 months, including me!

I LOVED Yarissa. She was so energetic and full of life. It was refreshing to hear her perspective from a country that isn’t used to the Kandee’s, Marlena’s, Desi’s and other huge personalities on YouTube. In essence, she is starting from scratch and paving her own way in the crazy YouTube world. Yarissa fully understands the opportunity that is in front of her and is seizing it. I predict she is going to go very far and change her life dramatically through her YouTube career.
She has a bit of an advantage. Her landscape is not as saturated as the English speaking market. However, there is a lot to learn from her and her story. She clearly understands everything required in having a successful channel from embracing your unique personality to the technical components of starting off with the right equipment and being thorough in the Three T’s: Tags, Titles and Thumbnails. I also really loved her approach to collaborating. She felt alone in her pursuit of YouTube success and formed her own mastermind with others in her situation. Not only did that provide a means for collaboration and audience sharing, but it gave her what she really wanted, friends she could relate to. Below are some topics covered along with my favorite quotes and some of her favorite tools.
In this episode you will learn:
- How to best use tags. Hands down, some of the best advice I have heard anywhere regarding this topic.
- How to collaborate with other YouTubers.
- Her successful system for choosing video topics that get lots of views.
- How to keep people on your channel and watching your videos until the end.
- Why viral videos are so important.
- How to get 100k YouTube Subscribers!
Some of my favorite quotes from this interview with Yarissa:
I knew in a part of my heart that I could do it because I believe in myself.
Please do not be like somebody else. You have something that nobody has.. If you don’t take advantage of that, you will not go far.

MY FAVORITE BUSINESS TOOLS
Course Creation: Looking to create a course? Kajabi is the BEST platform hands down. I use this for my course after extensive research on all the other platforms.
Live Calls and Interviews: I use Ecamm for my podcast interviews, both audio and for YouTube that you see here on YouTube. It makes it super easy to share my screen and create the split-screen with my guest. I’m not super techie and this software is really easy to use!
Webinars and Live calls: I use Zoom.us for my group coaching calls in my private membership group for female YouTube creators. It’s also the software I use to record my Road to 100k YouTube Subscribers Masterclass!
THE BEST YOUTUBE/PODCASTING EQUIPMENT
After interviewing HUNDREDS of successful YouTube creators, these are the pieces of equipment that hands down get mentioned time and time again. You can’t go wrong with anything on this list!
- 4k Camera: Great for starting out and vlogging
- Lens: This lens is recommended highly by many of my podcast guests, it gives the blurry “YouTuber” background look.
- Audio: If you want to upgrade your set-up, audio should be one of the first investments (after a good camera). This microphone is unanimously the favorite amongst my podcast guests.
- Podcast/Voiceover Microphone: If you are looking for a great microphone for a podcast or video voiceover, this is it! This is the one that you see in all of my videos and the one I’ve recorded my podcast on for years.
- Webcam: For my interviews, that you see in my videos, this is the webcam that I use. Super inexpensive and easy to set up!
- Inexpensive Lighting Kit: Need to pick up some lights but don’t want to spend a ton? This is a great set that will get you started and help improve the look of your videos.
- Ring light: Looking for that beauty look? Invest in a ring light! This is an inexpensive light that does that trick!
